What You Need To Know about The Project Management Training By Nano Consultz

Brief introduction to the course content will give you an idea of what to expect at the training. There are Nine knowledge areas and five process groups. Project Management knowledge areas (PMBOK 4):

1. Project Management Framework and Integration Management:
The framework captures the whole methodology of project management. It is a brief introduction of what is to come in the course of the training. Integration management prepare the ground for the skills required by a project manager to be able to apply the 9 knowledge areas and 42 processes to manage a project. Hence a project manager is refered to as an integrator.

2. Project Scope Management:
This is the project work. What should be included and what should not be included.

3. Project Time Management:
This refers to the project Schedule. How not to have schedule overrun and not meeting project delivery date.

4. Project Cost Management:
This refers to the project budget. What is refered as sunk cost. Here we also talk about earn value analysis. How to deliver project within budget.

5. Project Quality Management:
This refers to quality standards and measurements. What is meant by sigma 6 and the other measuring standards. Quality control and quality assuarance.

6. Project Human Resources Management:
This refers to the staffing, management plan for acquiring, organizing and developing the project team.

7. Project Communication Management :
This ensures that all project related information are captured, processed, disseminated to the required people ( stakeholders). The information should also be preserved and stored as lesson learned.

8. Project Risk Management:
This refers to the risk involved in projects. When the risk is most and when it is on the low. How to handle risk and how to work around risk.

9. Project Procurement Management:
This refers to all purchases or aquisitions of goods or services. Contracting and all forms of contracts.

NB: Professional Responsibility and test taking strategies and study techniques are bonus to the PMBOK module. However, Professional Responsibility is part of the testing questions you will be tested on. It is simply talking about your adherence to the PMI ethics and code of professional Conduct when you are managing project and relating with people within and outside the project during the project life cycle. It is all for the success of your project.

The Process Groups:

1. Initiation:
This is the process that initiate and authorises the project. It contains sub processes.

2. Planning:
This process plans the project viz a viz the work to be done, deliverable of the project, budget, schedule, procurement, staffing etc. It consist of other processes regarded as sub plan.

3. Execution:
This is the area where we carry out the project work. Here we are actually doing project management. Executing the plan that is laid out in the previous planning process.

4. Monitoring and Control:
This is where we have the project performance evaluation. measuring against a predetermined evaluation standard. Putting control on change, repair, rework etc.

5. Closing:
This is the final stage. It ensures that project is properly closed. Ensures that contract and procurement are well documented and closed appropriately. Ensures that all project documents arel archived and protected. Ensures that all lessons learned are well documented. Ensures that every stage is closed. Finally, ensuring that the project deliverable is accepted and project is closed. Then a sign off party.

In conclusion, you need to know what is required from you to be qualified to write the project management exams and how much it cost to write the exam.

Requirements to write the PMP exam:
1. You must have a B.sc or HND certificate.
2. It is mandatory you have 35 hours contact (ie classroom hours). This is where you need Nano Consultz.
3. You must have 3 years work experience. Otherwise, you will have to write CAPM ( certified associate of project management) as foundation course before your PMP exam.
4. The exam is 200 questions that is computer based( online) and project situational questions. Exam duration is 4 hours and you can take the exam anytime of the year based on available slot from the prometric testing center in Nigeria.
5. You will need to register for the exam online and fill in the application online. It is required that you have your past work or project experience ready and your referral manager's name and position. You print a copy of your application for subsequent random audit by PMI. You could be selected. Once your exam application is approved; you proceed to register and pay your exam fee. The fee is $555 for non PMI member and $409 for PMI members.
